In search of a case for my TBird System to be...

Well, I'm putting together a new 900 TBird system and I thought I was going to be ready as soon as the processor gets here, but then I realized that I had totally forgotten that I will need a new PS and case. At least I think I will. I currently have my Celeron system running in a POS generic case w/ a generic 230w PS. I don't currently run much voltage-sucking hardware, but I may soon. So here's a couple questions I'm sure you guys can help me out with:

1. Are there any dangers to running this processor on a non-AMD approved ps? (ie, other than an instable system, like ruining my processor)

2. Do AMD processors consume more power? I think they do but I'm not sure...

3. What case would you reccomend for me? I just need a mid-tower ATX, 3 5.25" bays, 2 or more 3.5" bays. I don't care if its ugly, my generic one does fine for me.

4. Will I be able to find any bargains getting one online? I found a nice enlight case w/ a 300w PS (amd approved) for under $70, but I would have paid > $40 shipping. Should I just get one at a local store?

Thanks for any input!

I good case would be the Antec SX830. Excellent airflow and very good build quality. It's like $100. If you don't wanna spend that one. The Enlight7237 is also a great one. I think the Antec case can be found at onvia.com or the antec website at antec-inc.com.

Hope that helped.

Thanks Grendel, I just found the Enlight 7237 for $59 shipped from MicroBarn, but I don't think that it's AMD approved. That seems like a great deal, too bad... Any other ideas???

Mjquily, many people use the enlight case with an Athlon without any problems at all. Just make sure that the power supply is decent!

I just saw a thread about a case in the HotDeals forum, this one. Looks like I'll go with this one, seems really good for the price.
