In search for a new Mp3 player

Well it seems that luck with mp3 players is never on my side. I have owned 4 mp3 players and broke every single one of them and now am in search of a new one.

I really want to get a HD player and was looking around and saw that the 4gb ipod mini is within my price range and the size is easily enough for the songs that I actually listen to. The only dilema with getting that player is how good does it sound, is the thing durable and how good is the battery life? I would be using a sony mdrv-300 headphone and would pretty much use if for about 4-5 hrs a day.

If you guys have any suggestions for a better player around that price range ($240cnd) please let me know.

And another thing, as I read some reviews they always kept transfering songs using the itunes software. Is that the only way to transfer songs on to it? Or does it appear as a removable HD and you could just drag and drop songs and files into it? And do all the minis come with firewire transfer?

If you've broken every single MP3 player you've owned up to this point, a hard disk based one probably isn't the best option for you.

Why are they really that fragile? I was kind of hoping to get some sort of extended warranty on the player if i got it though.

if you go hd based, dont drop it🙂 but my wife really loves the IRIVER 512mb mp3 player i got for her at best buy....was 132.00 and worth every penny, she exercises with it daily for 2-3 hours and uses it on the treadmill walking and jogging with no problems, interface on pc is easy, just drag and drop🙂 it will hold about 16 hours of songs....why would you want more when it so easy to load...its small, lightweight and comes with an armband that actually works....just one drawback, the earbuds suck! bought her a pair of sony earbuds that are great for about 40 bucks, conform to your ear and dont fall out while jogging🙂

well I'm not really interested in a flash mp3 player, I want something that can hold a lot of songs because I'm going to be using it a lot in the library at the university, and having like 80 songs looping kinda gets irritating after a while.
