A lawsuit accusing President Trump of violating the Constitution by maintaining a financial interest in his company’s Washington hotel cleared a critical hurdle on Wednesday when a federal judge allowed the case to move forward.

He ruled that the lawsuit should proceed to the evidence-gathering stage, which could clear the way for an examination of financial records that the president has consistently refused to disclose. The Justice Department is expected to forestall that by seeking an emergency stay and appealing the ruling.

Hadn't heard this on the news with everything else going on.

So Trump will go down in history as the worst POTUS in American history, replacing Nixon.

If this survives attempts at a stay and appeal... oh, the tirade from Trump when his taxes become public. That is, assuming he doesn't become the first fugitive President. It's been patently obvious for a while that Trump is terrified of sharing his taxes, whether it's because they'd confirm some of his shadier actions (say, his dependence on Russia) or just reveal that he isn't as rich as he claims to be.

Liberal cuck judge attacking the king of all Presidents. We need to do something about the liburals. Snowflakes don't get it that Trump is going to MAGA! Just look at how he has dropped unemployment from 15% to 4% since that loser Obama left office! Build that northern wall to keep the commie canucks out, they are just as dangerous as the drug dealers and rapists invading across the southern border. Health care is for those blessed by god with wealth.

What exactly do you mean by his "taxes"? Do you want to see his 1040 or his entire return? My guess is that would be many pages of information. My tax return regularly runs 20 or more pages, and I own just one tiny company.

I want to see his entire return because if nothing else this will give us the names of every LLC he owns. Once we know that we can start digging into them.

The main reason for this is that we already know numerous companies and foreign entities were bribing Trump’s personal lawyer through payments to shady LLCs he owned. The natural question to ask is ‘if they were bribing the president’s lawyer, who else were they bribing?’

His helicopter at his golf resort in Scotland is tied to over 80 LLCs.

Probably the entire return, if simply because thoroughness would be important. This is a man who thrives on hiding his activity in technicalities and exceptions. Investigators can afford to comb through many pages.

I don't believe any president has released their entire return. My hunch is it would take a court order or an audit to get all of it.

Maybe so, but given that the courts are involved, I wouldn't rule that out! And remember, ever since Nixon in 1973, presidents have voluntarily published that core part of their tax return... except for Trump. It's hard to cite precedent when even Nixon was more accountable than Trump is.

Funny, I was under the impression Trump wasn't like any other president

I'm seeing Trump on his realizing that he just won the election going like "oh shit! oh shit! oh SHIT! Call the grave diggers right this very minute man, I got a shit ton load of crap I gotta bury deep before the inauguration. Call Cohen, tell him it's a red alert, get the shovels out, clean out the closets, tell Jared and Jr. to work up any and all excuses they can think of to hide the fact that we're in with Putin him and his FSB and SVR.! Now! Now! Now! Oh and call the Saudi's, tell'um it's a go, we're in business!

I thought this was a nothing thing but I heard this could expose some of Trump & Trump Companies earnings & taxes as a discovery thing. That could be huge.

I never much cared about seeing Trumps 1040 because it wouldn't tell us much beyond what he made that particular year. He's wasn't an employee, so his income could fluctuate by millions. My hunch is it would propagate far more questions than it would answer. If you looked at my 1040 some years you'd wonder how big my Lear jet was, other years you'd wonder why I didn't collect welfare.
This is all based on my personal experience, I'm by no means a tax expert.

Hillary did and the Clinton foundation did and I believe they ultimately release a couple of decades of taxes on a searchable site.
Nearly all serious Presidential candidates release years of full tax returns.

https://www.npr.org/2016/08/12/489776309/in-an-effort-to-pressure-trump-clinton-releases-tax-rate

Mitt missed the year that the IRS offered amnesty over previously undeclared Swiss accounts...

GOP voters blithely overlook the fact that their heroes don't pay shit fer taxes. In the debates, Trump said he didn't pay taxes because he's smart & they lapped it up. It's apparently highly patriotic for the richest to not pay taxes in Trumplandia.
