well...since we are cross-posting threads apparently...

well, judging from your comment, you seem to believe the stereotype that all rap is about the ghetto, drugs, and b1tches....which yes i agree, suburban kids know nothing about.

but you're obviously only hearing what clear channel or mtv plays.

as i've mentioned before, try listening to: the roots, talib kweli, common, de la soul, mos def, black eyed peas, etc.

i dont feel like im a wannabe for listening to that music. they are rapping about life, some good, some bad, but i can relate to most of it.

ok....that didnt really make sense, but anyhow.

you're obviously a very closed minded person and will not give something that you are not familiar with a fair chance. so, i guess there is no point in arguing with you.

this makes ZERO sense.

so you're saying if I came up to you, you told me you listen to rock(just rock, no subgenre for purpose of point). and I go, "man rock sucks, simple plan, good charlotte, etc. are fvcking terrible, therefore all rock sucks" you woudln't think thats ignorant?

this is exactly what your doing, taking the whole genre for whats played on mtv and bet.

you're an idiot

I don't understand the hatred many here have for rap. I don't like country music at all, but I don't make the leap of logic that it therefore sucks because it doesn't suit my tastes nor put down others for listening to it. I'm beginning to think the reasoning is that it's a more socially acceptable means of voicing racism.

not at all....I'm saying it's like somebody liking Kiss and going out to the bar dressed up in the makeup and costumes....the surburbanite crowd is a bunch of marketed too...tools used to make a buck...

BTW I never said that their isn't good rap or hip-hop music....I just find it amusing how suburnites and rural people get a kick and buy into the dress culturee etc... of something that isn't really who they are...just something they picked up at basically a store of identities....same goes for country...same goes for Good Charlotte people with mohawks.....

Like you, I cannot stand country music that is why I stay far away from it. I used ot listen to old school rap, but right now, I just listen to Techno, dance and similar genres, yes, I do have some rap cds such as dj clue, method man, redman and others, but I don't have too many. I don't like where the new rap genre is going or where it was before and going to now.

it's because of the derogatory connotation it gets because it "exploits women."

yes, it does that too much because people want to see girls dancing in scantily clad clothing. If the execs believed that not showing women would increase revenues, they would stop in a heart beat.
