In PartitionMagic 8.0

I'm trying to convert my HDD from FAT32 to NTFS. There's an option that says "Convert to" and then one of the options is NTFS. If I click the OK button, will I lose all my files? Or will PartitionMagic simply be able to do a simple conversion without formatting the entire disk?

You *shouldn't* loose any data, I've had mixed results with PM in the past, never used 8 though. It won't format but that doesn't mean errors won't occur. Hell last time I ran it to merge 2 partitions, it scanned them for errors before it started and found none. About 40% into it BOOM error! I spend the next 3 days with data recovery software to get my files back in order.

If you can't back up your files first, know there's a slim chance it might not go as planned. Not trying to be negative but it's a possibility.

I have done it several times with PM 8, and never had a problem. You shouldn't have one, but as QueBert says, in software there is always the possibility of a glitch. I would back up my stuff then do it.

Did it last night. I was expecting it to take the entire night, but it only took like 5 minutes. 😵

Thanks guys!

Surprisingly quick... not much data then? If so, I would have moved the data and done a complete format instead.

no, pm8 is fast at conversion even with lots of data, i've done it before.
but as said, its a risky procedure to mess with drive structure that way, always backup before hand.
