Specs of my computer:
AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE (stock clock)
Asus M4A78T-E
2 sticks of Corsair DDR3 XMS3 DDR3-1333 (4GB kit)
Msi Radeon HD 7850 2GB (900/1200)
WD Caviar Black 500gb
3 case fans and an optical drive

My previous power supply was an OCZ Fatal1ty 550w but it gave out on me yesterday since my computer wasn't able to boot up, even though everything inside was on and all the fans were running. So I am asking the Anandtech community for advice for what a suitable replacement for my power supply would be.

in PSUs, brands rarely matter, as models are sourced from different oems.

Any quality psu over 500w will handle your system. Check out jonnyguru.com, and pick any psu that's recommended over there.

Corsair ax430 would be a decent choice.

I'll check out that website and the corsair PSU you mentioned, thanks.

I do a fair amount of gaming on this machine along with everyday activities (web browsing, watching movies, occasionally working with Microsoft office). Not sure if that matters or not in picking a power supply, but I just wanted to throw that out there on the off-chance that it does.

I like to be safe and find a psu that can power my computer running at 100% 24/7. I think your use case falls within those bounds :)

No, it's not. That's all that needs to be said about that until you provide some backing up for your claim

Lets say there are better JP parts PSU's like XFX,SF,Seasonic etc for the money. CX V2 is garbage compared to Corsairs TX/old CX series which was at least made from JP parts rather than CH parts as CX V2 series is. Well 5yr warranty on other brands than Corsair tells everything.

I am sorry that I didn't state which CX series isnt worth the money. If you can find old CX series somewhere just get one.

JP? CH? Please don't talk gibberish

I can't see any fault in CX series pricing, especially in the US. They're some of the cheapest units that are still reliable, efficient and output what they claim. By comparison, Seasonic and Antec units tend to cost much more, sometimes even double per watt, and offer very little extra in quality or features. Also, the claim that other brands offer 5 year warranty and Corsair doesn't is absolutely false. Seasonic and Antec have units with 3 year warranty as well, as do plenty of other brands. Antec VP series is only 2 years.

JP and CH are probably Japanese and Chinese. But that distinction is probably only meaningful with regards to the capacitors, and electrolytic capacitors are going to fail at some point because they can't stay moist forever. Hell, Seasonic is headquartered in Taiwan(not on particularly good terms with the mainland politically).

Reputable reviewers at Hardware Secrets and Jonnyguru.com have cracked open and tested the previous iterations of the CX430, and its performance is excellent.

I can recommend the Seasonic 430W S12II-430, great PSU, law cost.

For the price. While you can definitely get a better PSU, you just can't beat the price-to-performance of the CX-series.
