In need of serious iPod HELP!!

I was in my car and had my iPod hooked up to my car stereo via an AUX-in cable. I was playing a song and then I paused it. I went to unpause it and nothing, it wouldn't play. So I selected another song and it wouldn't play either, tried another song in a another play list and had no luck but I could hear the hard drive spinning. Then I went to try and play a movie, it played the first frame and locked up and now its stuck like that. I can't turn it off, I can't get back to the menu, nothing. When I hook it up to my computer and launch iTunes or the iPod updater won't recognize that its plugged in and it locks up my computer until I unplug it. I have the 30GB iPod Video and i'm stumped. From the sound it was making when it was trying to play the songs was the hard drive went bad. Does anyone have any suggestions to reset? My next step is taking it back to Best Buy since i've only had it for 12 days.

THANK! The good news is I got it to reset, the bad news is it won't load to the menu. I can hear the hard drive spinning and clicking but it just stays on the apple logo until it shuts off.

Nope, now its fine. I guess it just locked up on me and I had it sitting there for a few hours and it drained the battery. Once I reset it I couldn't get it to boot to the iPod menu and thought the HDD was shot but turns out it didn't have enough juice to turn it on, I left it plugged in for 5 mins and it turned on and is working fine now.
