I've got work to do for my classes and my comp keeps shutting itself off! Last week I added another 7200rpm hdd to my comp and since then it's having issues. I really want to figure out why it keeps shutting itself off. As I'm typing this it could power down at any second. Whenever I try to burn a cd and browse hdd at same time it shuts down, creating a misburn. My rig is on the brett's rig link in my sig and I'm using an enermax 300W PSU. I've called a few computer stores and they told me that 300W was more than enough for what I have.....

Another thing to note is that when my sys shuts itself off when I try to power it up again it beeps on and off at me and won't POST.

I gotta fix this quick!

12V is 12.30V

My best guess would be the power supply. 300W should be enough, but perhaps the power supply is flakey (i.e, defective).

It could also be flaking out from heat. Check the exhaust port of the power supply to make sure it's not dust-plugged, or that there are no objects blocking the outflow (and from the inside, the inflow...like the bundle of PS and drive wires/cables that usually end up hanging in front of the inflow port).

The tempreture you posted is from the Motherboard's point-of-view, not the power supply's.

(Throwing the dart-------> "Defective or overheated power supply")

Yes my friend it sounds like you definitely are in need of a new bigger and better power supply because the one you have now is not cutting it. You can get a new one for around $30. You can even get one at Comp Usa or Best Buy if you need to.

heheeh I read on some post here that if I bend the power cord more then I'll get more voltage on the 5v rail. So I tried that and it WORKED! I got it from 4.68 to 4.75. LOL. well, yea I guess it's time for a new power supply. I've heard enermax + epox mobos aren't a good mix so should I go with antec? I really don't want it to be loud.
