In need of an ATOT doctor again...

A couple weeks ago, I posted a thread asking some ATOT doctors for some help with the health of my g/f. Here's a link to that thread.

Well since then, things have gotten worse. The pain in her side hasn't gotten any better...if anything, it's gotten worse. Last night we were leaving a friends house because she wasn't feeling well...she was also quiet pale at the time. She had trouble walking to the door. I was staying close behind her because of this. She got to the door, got one sandal on, then started leaning against me. She then said she felt dizzy and her body went limp. I caught her and slowly lowered her to the floor, holing her slightly up.

It looked like she was going to pass out, her head kept nodding off. I kept telling her to stay with me, don't go to sleep. After a (long) minute or so, she came back and was able to scoot outside because she felt sick. She didn't throw up although she said she felt like it.

When I asked her about it later, she said when it happened, things got black. When she was on the ground, she said that things were blurry, and she could voices weren't that clear.

On the way home, we stopped off to get something to eat. When she got home, she was very, very, very tired, and could barely move before I left. This morning she told me that at like 1:30 last night, she woke up to go the bathroom, and then blacked out again. She woke up on her floor a little bit later.

This morning when I dropped her off, she said she was kinda feeling dizzy, but thought she was going to be ok. Against my better judgment, I let her go. Well I just got a message from her that she is home and it happened again. She blacked out again. She said all she remembers is waking up in her kitchen...she doesn't remember how she got there.

We both want her to go the hospital, but her mom won't take her again. I'm going to try talking to her tonight, but I don't know what she's going to say...I'm really worried about her...

Can anyone here offer any advice? Thoughts on what might be wrong? Things to do? Something to try that might help? Anything would be appreciated...

Anyone else?

I am leaving work ASAP (which happens to be just under 2 hour from now) to take her to the E.R. if she hasn't already been taken in, which apparently she is supposed to be...

I hope everything is ok with her... this is something way too serious to be asking on here.... although i know there are some medical professionals... still, take her to the ER asap.

Jesus, what's wrong with her mom? I'm not a doctor, but that sounds hella serious.

<---------------Former EMT: Go to the hosipital now. This could be anything from endometriosis to an ovarian cyst to some kind of arterial embolism. No joke, get her to an emergency room ASAP. Do not wait for tonight, do not wait for her moms permission. Take her now. Passing out with flank pain is not normal and can be indicative of a variety of serious medical conditions. If you have to convince her mother, askm her if she is willing to accept the consequences of being wrong.

Could also be going septic from a kidney infection or cholecystitis (gall bladder infection), in other words, go to the ED now!

Seriously...even disregarding the pain, she should get to a hospital ASAP. You need to log off RIGHT NOW, go and get her, and get to a fcking ER.

Based on your past link, does her mom have pleurisy per chance? Not sure if that is genetic but if so I don't envy your GF.

AFAIK, her mother does not. She does, however, have a thin blood condition for which she has to take a pill every day. Last time she was in the hospital, they sent a sample of my g/f's blood to another lab to test for this. It was supposed to take a while for the test results to get back...apparently there are only a couple labs in the US that can test for what she has. We still do not have the results for that back yet, but based on what is going on now, I don't know if it could be attributed to that or not.

It sounds like she is hypotensive (low blood pressure) which could be due to internal bleeding, which would be very serious. What about the possibility of a ruptured ectopic pregnancy or ovarian cyst?

Yup, blacking out like that along with nausea is hallmark for low blood pressure. If you stand up VERY fast after laying down for a while, get too much blood drawn, or get shot, etc you can recreate it yourself.

Low blood pressure + sharp pain in the side + pale along with blood disease...it sounds like either internal bleeding, which is VERY bad, or an embolism/clot, which is EVEN WORSE. Best case scenario, she is severely anemic (doesnt explain the pain), but even that isnt exactly good news.

She needs a CT scan ASAP.

Seriously, get her to a ****** hospital! Like RIGHT NOW. You do not seem to grasp the levity of the situation here.

I concur. Passing out is usually caused by sudden drop in blood pressure, which may be caused by a variety of things. Choleocystitis, overian cyst, kidney infection, pancreatitis (although that would present more with pain in the side/back), heck apendicitis is even a possibility (hard to tell without being there). All of these conditions are quite serious, so go to the doctor now. It is always best to catch things quickly if you can. I am living proof of that (see this link

I don't believe it to be either one of those. But while I believe that, I am not completely ruling it out. We are careful, but then again, nothing is full-proof...

Dude, youre not a doctor. You shouldnt be "ruling things out". Your body does NOT just lose blood pressure like every now and then for no good reason. Something is wrong, and that something needs to be identified. It could be transient, but since its been going on for weeks, it clearly isnt. Docs have to make decisions as to what tests to give her, the more tests they do, the more money they lose. You need to push for a CT scan just to be double sure.

What is the name of the blood disease that she has?

I'm not sure what the name of what she has is...all I know is that she has thing blood and at one point had similar pains to what the g/f is having now. It turns out, if what I remember is correct, she had blood in her lungs. She now takes something to help with her blood flow...

And I didn't mean to sound like I was trying to be a doctor or anything...just that the conditions listed mean that she may be pregnant, or something close...

No such thing as "almost pregant." There is either pregnant or not. And if she is having this kind of pain, I would swallow your pride and take her to the hospital. Ectopic pregnancy can be fatal for both mother and child.

Ovarian cyst just means she is ovulating, has nothing to do with pregnancy or sex, and while normally functional cysts are not a big deal and will go away on their own, one that involves an artery could lead to hemorrhage and be potentially fatal.

edit: especially to someone with a FH of a clotting disorder
