I am trying to set up the DNS on granitecanyon and I now have authority of the Reverse lookup. The A and MX are set and correct. Now my ISP has sent me the info on the in-addr.arpa but not how to get that info into the NS. I really want a complete example of a record top to bottom. Lets just pretend the IP is 1.2.3.4/29, this is about what I have, what I need to add is the in-addr.arpa info.
my.com IN NS ns1.granitecanyon.com.
my.com. IN NS ns2.granitecanyon.com.
; multiple RP records authorize others to submit zone changes
my.com. IN RP shuxclams.my.com. admin.my.com.
admin.my.com. IN TXT "My Name, NIC handle: ADMINISTRATOR, phone #555 555-5555"
; addresses for the canonical names
localhost.my.com. IN A 127.0.0.1
; an address for the zone itself
my.com. IN A 1.2.3.4.
; Aliases
; These create a nickname or alias for another name known
; to the DNS, the canonical name, hence CNAME. No other
; records may exist with a name the same as this alias.
mail.my.com. IN CNAME my.com.
ftp.my.com. IN CNAME my.com.
; MX records
; These direct mail delivery agents, like sendmail,
; at hosts which have agreed to accept email for us.
; The token 'EXTREF' directs nslint to allow external references.
; The token 'GLOBALOK' directs nslint to allow global records.
; MX records for a host to be treated specially
; my.com. IN MX 10 mail1.tea.com. ; EXTREF
; my.com. IN MX 20 mail2.tea.com. ; EXTREF
; my.com. IN MX 100 mail.uu.net. ; EXTREF
; global MX records for unspecified members of the zone
;
; MX records for email addressed to the zone itself
my.com. IN MX 10 mail.my.com.
This is about my best guess in regards to the in-addr.arpa info;
;3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.
4 IN NS ns1.granitecanyon.com.
; IN NS ns1.pbi.net.
; IN NS ns2.pbi.net.
4 IN CNAME .3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.
;5 IN CNAME 1.4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.
;6 IN CNAME 1.4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.

;8 IN CNAME 1.4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.
;9 IN CNAME 1.4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.
;In this example, your-ns.yourdomain.com. should be answering queries for the zone 4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.
;$ORIGIN 4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa.
my.com IN NS ns1.granitecanyon.com.
my.com IN NS ns1.pbi.net.
