In need of a case soon

Hey Guys,

I am building a new system in the next couple of weeks and I need a good priced case. I have look through the threads in gen hardware and there isn't much about good priced cases meaning under (50). I don't know what it is but anandtech viewers must be rich or something but every single person is talking about antec salona or whatever but that damn thing costs 100 ! anyways thanks peeps for looking in here...

Lots of (maybe most) of the regulars on this forum are enthusiasts. $100 for a nice aluminum case with removable mobo tray, removable harddrive cage, 6 pre-mounted fans, pre-modded windows, etc. is perfectly normal.

Directron has a great selection of cases.

so am i but i dont want to spend 100 on something like that.. i want to have the whole 2 usb in the front with maybe a nice audio output also... i also would like to mod the case or have one modded already.. i was thinking about the POWMAX case that compgeeks and directron offers but i heard bad reviews about it...

The Antec SLK3700 is a good value at $65 with power supply. Many of the cases you'll find under $50 come with low-end power supplies that I wouldn't trust -- why "save" $15 and get a power supply that makes your system unstable? Also, watch your fingers around the razor-sharp metal on some cheap cases.

As you can see from my specs. I got antec 1080. Pretty nice. Dont know how much it costs now, I got it for $90 total after a rebate and comes with 430watt antec psu. Got it like 5 months ago. Was pretty good deal considering the PSU itself costs $70.

Funny you mention this, I just received my new Antec Sonata case a few days ago, upgrading from a piece of crap generic 300W tower I had bought at a local PC shop about a year ago for $50. The PSU was horrible and I about died of blood loss every time I tried to do anything inside my case. Let me tell you, the extra $50 is well worth it... it's quieter, it's lighter, and the 380W PSU is probably worth $60+ as a standalone unit. The Antec 3700 is a good budget solution, but I would STRONGLY discourage getting a generic case with a generic PSU to save a few bucks.

AMS GMono is only $40. I just bought silver version, but it is $55 on NewEgg. Look further down on that link for a nice video review of it. Sounds like something that fits your criteria. It can definately be pimped out and it's cheap.
