I really need to start coming into OT more often.
Let me hit all the topics.

Five guys is hit or miss, but there is no In-out in Austin.

Americans Butcher "Z" too. Its Zed-4 A-Holes not "Zee-4".

Mmmm marmalade. Goddamn its been a long time. I miss it. Can't get it here in the US easily.

Zee >> Zed. What are we, Canadian? They don't count. 😛

OH! Annnd one last one... The toilet is not a bathroom, it has no bath necessarily, it is not a rest room, you don't go there to rest, and it's not a wash room, you don't go there to wash. It's a toilet.

The washroom at Harrods begs to differ.

I finally tried "Five Guys" burgers last week and liked it a lot, especially the great selection of toppings. I didn't like the overcooked nature of the meat, but it was no big deal. It is definitely unique from In-n-Out, two different burger choices and there is definitely room for both. If I had to only choose one I would go with In-n-Out though, but it would be close.

srsly - as someone who goes aboard oceangoing yachts from time-to-time, I find myself doing some things the way south africans, brits, french, etc people do, simply because of exposure.

Ciao - as goodbye. I now pronounce aluminium correctly - I just think it is fun to say - much to the chagrin of my wife, who hates the proper pronunciation. Spanner has to be my favorite though. I've been saying zed for "Z" my entire life. No idea where I picked it up.

does tuscaloosa actually have a downtown?

will someone mail me some dreamland ribs?

Yep, sure do. Granted, it doesn't compare with Atlanta or anything, but we do have one. Check out Google street view.

Also, if there ever is an ATOT meetup here, it would have to be at Dreamland.

4x4 protein style with the fries double fried always win. The fries come out so much better if you ask for them double fried.

why not just bump one of the other 350,358 threads about In-N-Out vs Five Guys?

FFS.

plus, In-N-Out is only slightly better fast food burgers. nothing particularly special, I must say.

Here's what I find interesting, there are what 2 Five Guy locations in So Cal? I know SD has 2 also but that's not So Cal to me. So any ways LA/OC 2 locations, I went to 1 of them and saw a normal amount of people. And it's not like the 2nd location is right up the street or anything.

I went to an In-N-Out last week, there were 2 other locations withing 7 miles. Yet it was still packed like Disney Land. Both drive thrus were back up onto the street, easily 25 cars in each line. The police routinely have to tell people at this location they cannot block the street just because the drive thru's so backed up. I've never seen an In-N-Out not beyond packed, even at midnight on a Wed there will be a long ass line. Yet the few times I've been to Five Guys there's never been much of a line at all.

If you opened a Five Guys directly across the street from an In-N-Out I bet after 2 years the Five Guys will be out of business. It's no contest which is better, and the lines at each are all the proof you need.

I was in America for 3 months in total and my friend and I decided to see if we could find the best burger place, the result was:

Any price: Epic Burger, Chicago
Cheap: In-N-Out

how did your parents feel about you traipsing about the country unsupervised?

I like In and Out, but they don't seem all that special to me. I like Five Guys quite a bit better, but it's still a fast food burger in the end. Just mho, everyone has different taste.

The only queen's english-isms that really get my goat are "ectully" for "actually" and "al-you-mini-yum" for "aluminum" one of the dudes from (the real) Top Gear says the latter and it drives me nuts every time....wtf did the extra 'i' come from?

EDIT: and to actually contribute to the thread subject: In-n-Out by a nose. I like the burgers better there, though the selection of toppings at 5 guys is quite nice. I like the "baseline" fries at 5 guys better, but once the In-n-Out fries are cooked well done, I like them better.
