I have files that are either in .aac(apple itunes format) .mp3 or .m4a

is there a program that would go thru the entire list and only change and overrite the files that were'nt in mp3 format. That would make my life much easier cause my mp3 player(samsung yepp) doesnt play aac or m4a.

well do a search on the root dir
cut (or copy your choice) all the files that are not mp3
place into a /edit/ dir
then run anyone of the bazillion audio format conversion programs on the dir
copy/cut back accordingly once done converting.

You'll lose considerable sound quality going from one lossy format to another
