GAH! My eyes are hurting from reading that page...

Tragic story but that does NOT excuse the mom.

Dad should be prosecuted. That type of negligence is criminal.

supposedly most cases like these do not result in jail time.
courts take into consideration the guilt that will be suffered.

wow...whenever you read these stories in the paper you always think how its criminal for someone to be so stupid...you think these parents are amongst the scum of the Earth. Then you read this and realize how horrible they feel and how these things are purely accidental sometimes...I really feel bad for that dad...

Those safety tips are good though...I like the spare diaper in the front seat...cellphone in the back idea...

I suppose you have to have a baby keep you up all night to really understand (I'm not in that boat). I thought the guy was an idiot too when I first heard about it, but it sounds like just a really tragic case.

Sticking a kid that young in daycare is bad enough:
And finally, I agree that both mothers and fathers should please slow down. The pressures of having a two-career family were very challenging to us. We could have met them, but we also should have scaled back our expectations of what we could accomplish in our careers during our child?s first years. Babies are only young once, and by slowing down other aspects of your life you can devote more concentrated attention to your families.
Good advice for parents everywhere.

Wow! What a handsome, cute little boy!

I would hope this was a mistake on the end of the father's. I won't crucify him before his trial and conviction. I also hope he can cope with the loss of his son and the guilt he feels if this was all a mistake. Often it's due to negligence on the end of the parent, but I pray this was all a mistake.

I'm reminded of the case of a little beautiful girl who was left in a van in really hot temperature. The corporation responsible was prosecuted. I never got to see the verdict in the case, though. I do know that previously the actual teachers who were supposed to be responsible for the head counts, but had failed to do the head counts, were given probation and no time served.

Too many of these cases happen. And I keep wondering why it is so in spite of announcements from the local news. Often, it's simply because the parents/responsible parties were negligent and left the kids so they could do some lame stuff; but they did not return until it was too late.

I'm sorry for the loss and sorry the kid's life was shortened.

As the father of a 9 month old baby girl, every time I see things like this, I instantly imagine that it happened to my baby, and I know exactly how that father must feel.

Doesn't matter what the courts do to him, they can never make him suffer like he already is.

They say you don't realize how having a baby changes the way you feel about things, and they're right.
