I just shorted out a fan header, PSU shuts down but then we smell something burning. Hmm. Remove fans, reboot, nothing. Started to sweat, luckily I knew where my towel was. After taking out the motherboard, on the back was about a 4.2 inch copper trace that had burnt and lifted off the PCB. Grab some wire and the soldering iron, jumped the trace, reassemble then post this little anecdote using that Motherboard. Like Mr. Adams always told us Don't Panic
