The cobra is probably more reliable then a mark viii just because it doesn't have all the do dads the mark does. Didn't the 99s get a little bump in HP?

There is no comparison. I'm just saying that those who choose not to rice a Civic go out and buy a mustang. Do something original for a change. Get a Crossfire (hahaha, have you seen the Top Gear review of this car? they pretty much tore it a second exhaust pipe :D) or a 350z (you mean the one that's not as good as the RX-8? :D) or an s2000 (Okay, that's decent. But still pretty common. Relative to its price range and target market, that is.). Something cool that fewer people have.

I tried to explain this to my friend before he bought his second fvcking Accord, but he wouldn't listen... :|

The only "doo-dad" to go wrong on the Mark is the air suspension. And that typically lasts 100,000 to 150,000 miles and can be replaced for $500 to $1,000 depending on where you're sourcing the parts and your labor rate. Considering that a clutch job on my last car ran about $1,400 and the timing belt change (every 30,000 miles) runs $600 to $1,000 I would hardly call replacing an air suspension at 100,000 to 150,000 miles for $1,000 a big issue.

Outside of that, there's nothing special to go wrong really. Nobody has problems with the message center that I know of and it's not as though the power windows and power seats are that much different than the ones on the Mustang, at least in terms of the mechanical bits. The Lincoln's seats are more like lazy boy recliners though. :)

There's just not a lot of "gee-wiz" stuff on the Mark VIII. It's big, it's smooth, it's comfortable, but it's not a gadget car.

It's not that I don't like my Supra, it's been a great car, but it has a ton of miles on it and still has the original turbo (which is in need of a rebuild soon) and the transmission has at least a couple bad synchros. Some of the trunk molding leaks and a swimming pool has developed in the spare tire comp. It goes through tires like a mother as well, and they aren't cheap. Has the sports package with the TEMS and LSD though, and the motor is in great shape for the mileage.
