Yet most of the gun control measures that made the situation suck were passed with Republican support (either executive, legislative, or both). It's not just dems that go for gun control.

The big change is that knowledge now refutes fear. The bulk of available academic research opposes the idea of gun control. With no valid arguments, gun control simply topples.

This is the correct answer.

Every state has CCW laws except 2, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Hawaii doesn't allow any type of carry. You can only have a gun in your own home, or transport to the gun range.

Exactly. We had English law which superseded colonial law and we fixed it by revolution. We are telling city mayors they can't do the law folk want enacted because all the assholes in the rest of the country who own guns that aren't a problem aren't getting killed themselves. People are made to die because of your religion and they can't even institute law as to them seems best.

"The guy broke the basement window in the back," Perez continues. "Mr. Gant heard the noise with the window shattering open. ... He got up, I guess got his gun out and the guy made it to the first-floor porch. The other guy fired first and then Mr. Gant fired after him — ended up striking the guy and killing him."

Thank God, Perez says, the Korean War veteran was able to defend himself, even though this happened a month before the Supreme Court ruling, when owning a handgun in Chicago was still against the law.

"I think he did the right thing," Perez says. "They're 80 years old, him and his wife, and the grandson was with them, you know, and he's about 12 years old. If the intruder would have came in, it would've been a tragedy, probably — found the whole family dead, shot up, you know?"

People in the hood need to arm themselves. There is no reason for the right to bear arms to be a rural conservative issue. Self defense is a fundamental human right that even supercedes the Constitution. It's irrelevant whether you believe the Constitution authorizes private ownership of guns because self defense was a basic right when man wielded clubs, when he wielded axes, and when he wielded bows and arrows.

A lot of people in the hood are extremely poor and cannot afford firearms, or they are convicted felons and are disallowed from owning firearms.

That's all a bunch of bullshit too. If anyone needs them it's people living in hood and hanging around convicted felons. You think I need them where I don't even have to lock my house and leave keys in ignition?

Man, people just keep throwing out untruths. The safest states are in the New England area with only Maine and New Hampshire as being fairly liberal with ccw laws. But Wisconsin one the most safest states flatout denies CCW. The other state is Illnois which is in the middle for violent states. The most dangerous states are traditional red states except for Cali and Md.

Lol. You want to talk about untruths?

The 2nd safest state is Vermont. They have no restrictions on carry, concealed or otherwise. Don't even need a permit. Likewise a good number of "Red States" are rated as safer than New York, who's gun laws are pretty damn strict.

Please educate yourself before spouting off statistics you know nothing about.

It hurts crime rates when people live in the state.

What did I say that wasn't true? All I said was that CCWers were less likely to commit crimes that the average person.

I didn't say anything about how "safe" a state is. I don't care how "safe" the state I'm living in is, that's why I carry a GUN. :p

You realize that gun banning isn't a Universal issue in the (D) party right? I'm a (D) but I'm fiercely pro gun ownership and 2nd ammendment.

Yes there are many ultra left that want them banned but I'd be surprised if it was even half of the party.

Indeed. It's a funny wedge issue because it's not a real "issue". Some Democrats support gun bans, but such bans rarely make it anywhere on even a state level because opposition is pretty widespread across party lines. Republicans flog the issue, but except among easily fooled people, I'm not sure how many votes it really buys them.

No offense, but that's really stupid. Gun ownership, concealed carry laws, etc, are fine...but guns aren't magic wands that suddenly make you invulnerable to danger. Safe areas are still safer than unsafe areas, whether or not you have a gun.

If I remember right, a complete overview of violent crime rates to gun ownership/carry rates (as opposed to cherry picking favorable stats like you guys did) shows virtually no correlation between gun ownership and violent crime.
