In high school gym class, do kids still take showers?

I get the feeling tat this is no longer common practice. The kids are too afraid of thier classmates seeing them naked or something.

If you're in high school, or graduated in the last year or two, can you tell me whether you took showers after PE, and what part of the world you're in?

no, we didn't either. I actually wish we had, being all sweaty and smelly for the rest of the day sucks. I wasn't about to be the only guy in the school who showered after PE, though.

Our gym class wasn't really supervised, so we mainly played basketball. If gym wasn't close to last period than I wouldn't even go all out while playing. I definitely didn't wanna be all nasty for another 3-4 periods.

When I had PE in high school, it was my first 'class' of the day. I never took a shower, but about half of the boys in the class did. It was the typical throwing soap and snapping with towels, though. They didn't seem to care one bit.

How about you?

also graduated in 2000. The only time you took showers in PE was before and after pool. We'd take showers for after school stuff like wrestling.

We had optional showers. Very few people utilized them. In middle school however, we were required to shower. You can imagine how awkward that was, seeing as we were all going through that "special stage" in our lives. The worst part, though, was that our gym coaches would often come and watch us to "make sure we were showering."

same here, i love it. The only time we are "encouraged" to take showers is during our swimming unit. This is in Iowa btw.

Graduated from HS in 2001. Showering... optional. I just made sure I had clean clothes to change into everyday. My deodorant worked good too.

uh.. nobody ever showered in my high school pe classes.. there simply wasnt enough time to take a shower.. they were certainly optional.. but you'd be late to the next class.

5 minutes is NOT enough time to shower and change in a crowded locker room.

here in england, in middle school 3 years ago, we were forced to take showers. It wasn't just single showers, it was like a prision camp, like there was 2 walls with little jets on the sides. You were forced To line up and make your way through. The teachers would be standing at the end 'watching' The actual shower was discusting too, friends caught fungul infections on there feet etc..

I say 'forced', because in one of the first classes, this kid who had a mental problem (he was really violent, but u could kick his ass n/p) refused to go in. After being shouted at and this kid had to wait for everyone to leave before he'd go through. After that i didn't see him in that class again.
Sometimes you'd think 'hey, after this PE class school is over, rather then have a quick 30 second shower i'll go home and have a one". Not allowed, if the teachers noticed your hair wasn't wet or whatever, they'd make u stay behind and go through.

Very wrong in my opinon. You can't force someone to have a shower, espially in those conditions, espially at that age....

Today in HS it's optional

I think I took one semester of P.E. my entire time in high school.

I was in three sports a year so I could opt out of it. Never showered in the semester I did take it.
