Ive got a problem installing the NIC ive got.
When my computer finds the card (it does find the appropriate certified drivers) it goes past that step and just after it has found it I get a window saying:
Could not install Ethernet-adapter (that is swedish: Ethernet-adapter but it might be called the same in english or maybe ethernet-device)
And under this code it says: Wrong data
if I check the settings for the card in the device manager (The card doesnt lie under Network cards - it lies under the tab Other devices and it is a ! mark over the name: Ethernet-adapter (ethernet-device)) I see: Error (Code 1).
Ive tried changing to 3 different PCI slots -Ive tried the included drivers - the ones that winXP finds and all other kind of drivers. (I do not at all - pretty sure of it - believe it has something to do with the drivers.) Ive looked at IRQ's, DMA's etc etc. Tried 2 cards in the same machine - still no go (one 3com and one netgear). This is ridicolous. I cant find a solution.
I have no clue what to do.
What is error code 1?
The card works in another computer so there is nothing wrong with the card.
Thanks a lot and I am in dire need of help.

What brand/model of card is it? What brand/model of motherboard?

Is it on the Microsoft Hardware Compatibilty list? Have you check the NIC card manufacturer for updated drivers off their website?

MS HCL

Try the above, and good luck!

P.S. Also try the General Hardware forum if you have not already.

Tried all new drivers (both should work with WinXP). Tried old drivers too.
(dont think there is something wrong with the drivers)
Platform: WinXP Build 2600 (swedish version)
Processor: P4 "Northwood" 1,8ghz
Graph card: Leadtek Ti 4400
