In desperate need of help with cable routing!

I've been dealing with this forever and I just don't know what to do!

I have a 4 port Linksys router and a 3Com cable modem (looks like a sharks fin).

My internet is fine when hooked strait in. The wiring in the house is high quality shielded cable. The second the signal gets in, it hits a Monster splitter which has one fork to the tvs and one fork to the modem.

When using the router, I sometimes loose connection every five min. Sometimes it'll last an hour, sometimes 2 hours and sometimes it'll just all lose it every min. At these times it still works when strait into my computer.

I don't know what settings to alter on my router. I have the host set up correctly along with the DNS settings.

I tried a D-Link modem and I have the same results.

Anyone have ANY IDEAS!

THANKS A BUNCH!

I start by checking the connectors from the splitter to the cable modem.

If it persists, call the cable company, they can set the signal level to the cable modem and / or sweep the cabling system (in your house) to see where the problem is.

Good Luck

I'd call Cablevision. They might have a filter outside your house somewhere. That can interfere with the signal. It happened to my friend.
