In desperate need of help troubleshooting my VERY strange problem

I recently purchased an Abit Kt7a-raid board along with an amd tbird 900mhz socket-a chip. Well they were working pretty good, a little buggy (i think it was my win2k install). Then one day, during bootup it would post, do cpu speed/type, ram count, then proceed to scan and detect my ide devices, then RIGHT at the end of the 4th ide device it would just lock up, freeze, STOP, but i still had keyboard control, i could do the 3 finger salute just fine, etc etc. Anyway, I returned the board back to where i purchased it, they were able to recreate the same problem, so they shipped me a new board (and yes it is new, the capacitors are a different color from the board i returned) Anyway, I'm still having the same problem on this new board. I have done all that I konw to do, checked ram sticks, installed 1 ide device at a time, did just the bare bones (video, floppy, main hd), I even tried goign without a hard drive, it still froze up. I also checked my bios settings, i disabled raid support (wasn't using them yet), checked my voltage, which I'm pretty sure should be 1.75 for the 900mhz tbird, I have done all that I konw to do, I refuse to believe that the same problem can show up twice in a row. Any suggestions on how to combat/fix the situation, please enlighten me, I just wanna use my new kickin system. Thanks much!

since it has nothing to do with the motherboard, since you have already replaced it.. and everything. try switching out the cpu and power supply. switch out stuff that hasnt been done yet. u must isolate the problem. beenthere, donethat. =)
