Originally announced for this Spring, Sony is now shooting for the Fall.

"We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users," says Kaz Hirai, boss of Sony Computer Entertainment.

"We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with. We look forward to soon unveiling the exciting software line-up that further expand and define the PS3 platform as the ultimate entertainment system for the home."

I thought this spring was too aggressive of a time frame anyways when they announced it at E3. This will really put Natal and Sony's motion control head to head though if there are no further delays.

What's really funny is that as you were posting this I was looking on your Atlanta VG Examiner page and saw the topic "PS3 motion controls still on track." Maybe still 2010 but not quite "on track."

whats more surprising is how long it took sony and microsoft to duplicate the wii!

i understand the ps and xbox are aimed at hardcore gamers... but why not have both hardcore and casual gamers.

Heh, yeah I mention that in the article.

Sony announced then that the motion controller would be released in the Spring of 2010 but with the lack of news, game demonstrations or announcement, and other details probably means that its release will slip to some time later this year.

As long as they have a more involved sports game than Wii Sports, I don't mind...

the entire motion craze was great for kids and bringing in new players. But overall, the experience is 'meh' and the fun wears off pretty quickly.

Give me a six-axis or snes pad and I'm set.

Meh, I'm in the "who cares?" camp. It's going to be expensive and support for it will be low. Any game that will retroactively add controls for this will be gimmicky at best.

Not only that, it won't get widespread adoption for all the reasons above and it'll fail.

Sony never really put the motion controller they already had to good use. There's only one game that I can think of that uses Sixaxis effectively and that's Flower. Why would this be any different. Support will probably be an afterthought at best.

I think the Sixaxis motion control was rarely used is because it is limited in what it can do. "Flying" games like Flower are pretty much the only thing it is good at.

It has uses. I think its Resistence where you shake the controller to shake off enemies that cling to you. Flicking the controller to throw free throws in College Hoops.

I LIKE the fact that its a subtle, rarely used effect.
