Lola

I would love to hear about your favorite summer memory!
It can be one from childhood, or even a bit more recent!

I am enjoying the balmy breezes this evening and feeling very summery... let the stories flow!

PLEASEEEEE!!!! 🙂

:sun:

I remember a thread like this last summer. Wasn't yours the one about watermelon?

My favorite summer memory is skateboarding and laying on our back at night looking at the stars on this huge hill.

I met my girlfriend last summer and it was amazing. We met at an old playground, actually. And we layed on our backs and looked at the stars and talked and stuff. I remember how it smelled outside, and how the air felt. I remember what she was wearing, I remember all that stuff. We did that all last summer and it was just a blast.

I started skateboarding back in 2000. I remember my first skateboard, and I remember learning all these tricks. I didn't have a job for a couple more years, so all I ever did was skate. Man, those were great times. I loved skateboarding with my old friends from HS.

we never really went on vacation. we went to florida with my aunt and uncle once, that was fun.

My favorite summer was when I got my first 2 wheel bicycle. We had a really really long driveway that was sloped. My mom gave me a push and I speed down the driveway and crashed into the porch. The porch was 3" off the ground and I really went far under it.

yep, there was one last year, and you have a GREAT memory!

I like "happy" threads so i wanted to do it again! 🙂

A couple of years ago, a bunch of my friends decided to head up to a lake house and stay for a week. It was the first time we'd ever put down money like that instead of just going along with parents and letting them pay. We rented a ski boat, bought a few kegs of beer, and spent the entire week on the lake during the day, grilling at night, and staying up until sunrise fishing. The last day there we saw SW:Episode 2 in the theatres if that gives it a timeframe, I forget the exact year. I don't think I've ever been happier, we spent the entire time just doing what we wanted, with great weather, and all the  we could drink.

My birthday is on the 4th of July so every year, we celebrate it, watching the fireworks at the beach. It's so mesmerizing. The only time I didn't watch it was when I had a projector and Xbox and I played a crapload of games.

Virtually every summer when I was a kid we went to my maternal grandparents for a week or two. We have always lived fairly far away from them, so just getting to see them was a treat. Of course, they doted on me and my siblings, and fed us until we couldn't move. And then there was where they lived: a farm in western TN. Everything about the farm seemed to be custom made for boys, and my brother and I would spend the days chasing chickens, swimming in the creek, walking up to the old Indian cemetary, and playing "war" with each other. They had a dog that was my best buddy and would follow me everywhere I went. Also, a few miles away was a Civil War fort, which is now a park. We would go and play in and around the old ruined fort walls, and have a picnic lunch waiting on us when we got tired. At night, grandmother had kept a stack of comic books left over from my uncles, so we would read those until someone had to carry us to bed.

I want a time machine.

My fondest (childhood) memory is of going swimming, then coming home and taking a nice, long nap.
Still makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Playing spring with reckless abandon... riding our bikes ridiculous distances... going to "the spot" and dreaming of the future, talking about girls and marveling at the stars in the night sky. not worrying about getting shot, kidnapped, molested... not having a care in the world. going to the all night movie and watching the same crap for the tenth time and loving every second of it...

being a kid in the summer in the city in the 70s was a great time to be alive. i miss it.

My folks used to put the TV facing out the window on summer nights and we would put an old quilt in the backyard, sit on the quilt and watch TV while hand cranking some homemade icecream. 🙂

Sometimes Dad would set up the family camping tent in the backyard, and all the neighborhood kids would come over and campout overnight

Then of course there was the time I went to and older cousins frat lake party on the 4th of July. All the frat boys stacked hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks on the end of a pier at the lake, when one of the drunk frat boys dropped a lit cig in the main box and blew the end of the pier off😱 That was quite a show

Otterpops are awesome!

My favorite summer memory isn't appropriate for public discussion so I'll go with my next one...spending all day in the sun/at the pool with not a care in the world.

we have a place in northern wisconsin where we used to go a lot when i was younger. desert would ALWAYS be watermellon slices and me and my cousins would have watermellon seed spitting contests that would last hours. i miss those days
