"The Japanese automaker Subaru is recalling nearly 50,000 zombie-vehicles because they run the risk of starting themselves, without human intervention.

Subaru said the recall applies to 47,419 Legacy, Outback and Impreza models produced from 2010 to 2013. The recall also includes Crosstrek vehicles from 2013."

They can start, run stop, start, run, stop - parked in the garage, out of sight, on the street, in the night, until the car runs out of gas or the fob battery dies.

I saw Transport Canada tweet this the other day. Anyone remember Stephen King's short story "Trucks"? If Google gets their way, that will be the future. Self driving cars with a thrust for blood and gasoline.

I guess people can just take the battery out of their FOBs for now.

Someone sent me this link 2 days after getting my 2013 outback, I didn't get one of the ones with the remote start though. I really need to get pics up, but I didn't really feel that it was something to brag about.

My GM car has the same feature (remote start) but it limits it to two starts before the key has to be put in the ignition. Also sniffs the outside temp and either starts the heater or AC, great feature, hopefully the car doesn't fall apart before it hits 100K LOL..
