My son says he is having problems with the stereo he just put in his car. I told him if he posted here one of you would have the info to point him in the right direction.

basically heres the info and problem:

Panasonic stereo with 2- 10" subwoofers hooked up on an amp and 4- 6 " speakers just
hardwired to the stereo (2 front and 2 back). Initially he got good sound off all 6 speakers but then decided to put 2 better quality speakers to replace his 2 front speakers (same size 6") sound was ok for a day or two but now seems to just be getting base out of the 2-6" speakers in the back. Any idea what his problem may be off the top of your head I suggested first thing I would do is check connections on 2 fronts where he swapped and secondly check rears for damage.......Any ideas you got appreciated thx

if there are 2 or more drivers in rear speakers he may have killed the high range drivers...the way to isolate the problem is to connect one of the rear speakers to a front channel that has no problems and vice versa...if the problem moves with the speaker it is likely the speakers...if it stays with the channel its something with the wiring or with the amp in the head unit itself...hope that helps

First, disconnect the subs. Using balance and fader, check the 4 full range speakers for repsonse. If you find anything wrong, switch that speaker with the other one like it (you can do this at the HU electrically, no need to switch the speakers physically). If the problem stays, the speaker needs to be replaced. If the problem moves, the HU is the culprit. Now you know the problem, and can correct it.
