I thought with a pickup truck, i can park at a yellow curb as long as i need...a friend of mine just told me i can't do that but he didn't know for certain exactly how long i can park. I also thought you can't park at a yellow curb if you drive a regular passenger car but i see them parked there all the time.

So if you thought passenger cars weren't supposed to park there why would your truck be an exception?

[EDIT]And yes, the correct answer is never. I thought everyone knew that.[/EDIT]

isn't the yellow curb the loading zone?

so, no more than 15 minutes.

and, I rarely find yellow curbs anywhere, except in downtown areas in CA.

Yellow: Stop no longer than the time posted to load or unload passengers or freight. Drivers of noncommercial vehicles are usually required to stay with the vehicle.
from here.

Hmm you may actually have an excuse for being confused, I've found some stuff that suggests yellow curbs in SoCal are for commercial trucks.

Still wouldn't apply to you unless you're driving a tractor around.

I was always under the idea that i can park at yellow with a pickup, beucase the license plate differentiates it from a regular passenger car.

Funny thing about California, all pickup trucks are registered as commercial vehicles. Including my Dakota.

i never see any post by yellows curbs here in the bay area telling you how long i can park at a yellow. and with the driver "usually" required to stay, in what situation am i not required to stay?

Is this from something or just a general wife-husband conversation?
