In Berkeley, CA for a few days - Good places to eat?

We're going some place for BBQ and we're going to a chocolate factory. I think we're driving to Napa tomorrow. I was just wondering if there were cool places to eat in town.

Again, it depends on what kind of food you want...

Top Dog - good hot dogs
Zachary Pizza (deep dish, heavenly stuff) not that good pizza

a) yes, never tried the smoothies

This man speaks the truth! By far the best deep dish I've ever had! Well worth the wait!

Not really, if you go to Pizza Chicago in the South Bay and in Palo Alto near STanfurd that stuff KILLLS Zachary's..

If you want pretty good food, you can try Skates on the Bay near the Berkeley Marina and alternatively there's H's Lordship there which is good food too.

But yea there's some good food Southside of campus..

You cannot be serious?! Pizza Chicago is the WORST pizza I have ever had. It is basically a giant piece of bread with a THIN layer of tomato sauce/cheese/toppings on it. That is NOT Chicago style pizza. I retch just even thinking about it. If you are stuck in the South Bay and want REAL Chicago Style pizza go to Patxi's in Palo Alto, though it pales in comparison to Zachary's.

Jesus ! Jump the bridge and go to the City - Fishermans Warf
get some real food.

Otherwise you might as well just find a Waffle House.

Blondie's isn't bad for pizza....and there was a place at the corner of telegraph and dwight way (Anne's ?) which i loved for breakfast/brunch. If you like bubble tea there's Old Teahouse on Durant Ave.

unfortunately I wasn't visiting UC-Berkeley that often

WTF? I never had a good meal in Berkeley.

Walnut Creek has the best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at on N. Main and it's like a 15 minute drive from Berkeley down 242.....reachable by BART even....with a one mile walk.

If I was eating in Berkeley I'd find a 7/11 and get a corn dog or something.

let's see...

Gipsy's is the best Italian food for the money, and then some. I can't stress how much I love this place (Durant Street, between telegraph and bowditch) 🙂

If you just want a giant pile of Kalbi (Korean Short ribs), make your way to Steve's Korean Barbeque (in the same food court as the place above)

Zachary's, like everyone else says, has really good deep dish pizza.

If you have money and like Thai food, go to Thai house.

For Mexican Food, try Mario's La Fiesta on the corner of Telegraph/Channing- it's ghetto, dirty, and authentic 😎

These are all the places I like. For any other type of food, you should go to SF Chinatown, Pier39, etc...
