would you rather work with someone who doesnt understand day to day operations and cant learn / remember anything you teach them?

or would you rather work with someone who knows how to do everything, but is just too lazy to get off their ass and do it.

lazy. you can at least try to figure out a way to motivate the lazy person to do something if they know what they're doing. if they're stupid then forget about it

Believe it or not, stupidity is the lesser evil. All most employers want is just someone anyone to get the damned job done. If they're stupid, then they just give them a simple job to do.

QFT. Lazy (but knowledgable) people can still come through in a pinch. Stupid people have no hope.

This *ONLY* works if they are smart enough to realize they are dumb. In other words, know their boundaries. A stupid person that doesn't realize it is a danger to everyone.

A lazy person can still be a hazard or a danger, but this is through a lack of action, not because of their actions.

If I could tell you how much time I've wasted re-doing things that all the stupid people we've hired here have messed up... FFS, we had a year long project that ultimately failed because stupid people were in charge of the database design.
So obviously stupidity is not the lesser evil in all cases.

True, but within limits it's all good.

I've known plenty of intelligent people who have had no common sense whatsoever. They might excel in a given area but fail spectacularly at the most basic of everyday tasks.

Okay... now imagine how much time is wasted if the job is never done at all.

I am lazy but I know my sheet. I'd much rather work with someone equally lazy, than a dumbass I'd have to babysit.
