In a way, we all choose the way we die...

You take another drag of that cigarette, another hit off your pipe...

You get that pretty new sportbike...

You take a career up in skydiving...

Just take a minute to think about it, we all choose our path of demise...

Ahem. Properly handled by an observant rider who knows what he's doing a motorcycle is not significantly more dangerous than a car. The safety nuts that want to tell me what I should and should not be able to drive really annoy me. I know several people who have been riding bikes for more than 30 years and who have never had substantial (as in, requiring any professional treatment at all) injuries whatsoever, and one who has never even had an accident. Just because there are morons out there who ride around at 90 MPH without a helmet and in shorts, sandals and a T-shirt does not mean that those of us who wear leathers, full helmets, gloves, and motorcycle boots are at severe risk.

I'm sorry for getting serious in this otherwise humorous thread, but time is nothing more than relative particle motion. There is no such thing as a predetermined future. But you got one thing right: nothing in the universe happens unless there is some will behind it.

It's not the riders that are a risk, it's the friggen crazy other drivers! 🙂
Every time I ride, I get the shat scared outta me at least once, when some jerk runs a light 10 seconds after it changes, or merges without looking.

What's the time and date? Have you thought about how you're going to do it?

<< yeah maybe, I have a time and date picked out myself. >>

<< i'm sure we all saw that drunk driver come up behind us as well.... >>

you chose to get in your car and be on the road at that time, didn't you

this thread is dumb

Ya, but who could've possibly seen the alligator come up out of the can to chomp your ass off and let you bleed to death on your bathroom floor?!
Man, talk about surprising!

:Q

now I'm scared to work with 60v AC circuits in my engineering lab :Q

NOT. yes, in some ways we do, in others we have no control over it.

yeah... but you can also say I choose to get up the morning to go to work, when i could have stayed in bed...
so choosing to live out my life will eventually lead to my death... well duh....

i agree, this thread it kind of dumb...

furthermore, if you were to have stayed in bed, and chose to do so everyday for your whole life, then that choice would probably have killed you too

Now if we were all really really high, this conversation wouldn't seem so dumb 🙂

So if i take up smoking, can you gaurantee me death by lung cancer at age 50?

If you could I might consider it, so I wouldn't have to worry about the truck driver that falls asleep at the wheel and smashes me and my little civic to bits. Just think about it a minute, we can steer towards a path, but we don't choose.

<< if by "choose", you mean we make decisions that we have no way of forseeing the outcome of. >>

you can't forsee the outcome, but you know for sure that doing that something that you chose to do increases the chance of you dieing by about 80%, than hmmm, maybe it is kind of a calculated risk where you do choose to go that way if it comes to it.

yes.. being at work... and not fish bowling it in the bathroom with a bunch of friends takes some of the passion out of this conversation...
😀

For biology majors, these are known as "Squids"
