In a laptop backpack, which way should the laptop screen face?

the peripherals (power supply, mouse, etc) are in the front of the bag.

my laptop screen faces the back of the bag and the bottom of the laptop faces the front of the bag.

so if i get pushed into a wall while the bag is on my back, the peripherals will be pressing into the bottom of the laptop instead of the screen.

How would you position the laptop inside the bag, and why?

I would do it the way you are describing. The bottom of the laptop is designed to take more physical abuse then the cover over the screen itself. As long as your laptop isn't ON in your backpack, your HDD will be parked & as safe as possible when being banged around.

A tip: if your laptop sleeve in the backpack itself leaves a lot of room for your laptop to move around in, get a secondary sleeve for the laptop itself from someplace like SHinza or Booq.

I would have imagined that the wall would cause more damage than the peripherals.

i am not sure because i don't have a backpack for my newly bought laptop... btw, whats a good laptop backpack anyways?
