In 2004 I got x800 for $600, why not a Fermi for $600 6 years later

Don't fool yourself into thinking $770 for a 5970 is a good buy.

Shoulda just bought a second 5850 and kept the rest to put towards an i7 upgrade

Yeah, well I'd rather go tri crossfire with 3 5850s, but the 5850 doesn't seem right at the price for me..still the lowest available here in canada is a $299 one...

I don't know what I'll end up doing, after I build everything and test it, I might keep the 5970, sell the 5870 or 5850, or sell the 5970 and buy two cheaper 5850s for tri crossfire...the project is to test Quad crossfire with 5970+5870+5850, i've already ordered my i7 gear coming in a week....

Sweet, will be interesting to see the scaling on that setup. Cool project.

I've read various places that microstutter becomes a noticable issue with more than 2GPU's, interested for results and your experience.

The 6800GT couldn't have been $600 at launch. I think I paid $370 or so for one. The 6800 Ultra was about $550.

:D that is a "cute fuzzy warm feeling" comment

When I open up my case to tweak the innards, when I look at the card that is exactly the feeling I get  The damn thing barely makes a hum while it's doin it's thing all the while kicking out solid frames for my HTPC setup. Only have roughly 8.5" for a GPU in the case, otherwise would have considered 5850, but the quiet of the 5770 really nice to have in a HTPC.
