Not. The evolution of man will see new technological breakthroughs.
Problem is governments and oil companies will work very closely to ensure such tech does not make it. They want to continue to use oil to control the people and have wars such as the ISIS one, which further fuels agendas. Government agendas mostly revolve around money and control, and oil is a big part of that. They will probably allow Tesla to go so far but if they see them as a threat they'll just pass some regulation about lithium ion batteries or something. "Think of the children! Those things can explode!" general public will eat that up. I don't think lithium ion is really the future anyway though, but whatever else comes up they'll figure a reason to ban it. Heck a lot of places already don't allow solar, wind, or any other method of living off grid. If you are off grid you are not dependent on the system and are harder to control or take advantage of.
The trend seems to be that governments are becoming more and more dictators as well, even in a democracy, the idea of voting is mostly just an illusion of freedom. It's all a big system and there's nothing that can be done to stop it. Elections are just a distraction from the real issues. General public tend to get hung up on the most idiotic issues like celebrities and LGBT and crap like that and forget about the real issues like the declining job market, increasing costs of living, mass surveillance etc. So all this will only get worse I imagine. I'd hate to see what things will be like in 50 years, or 100.
Or perhaps the sheep will eventually wakeup and there will be a big movement by the people to crush this system, but it would really need to be an international effort as these issues are everywhere. I guess I kinda went off on a tangent here.

Long story short I think in 100 years from now things will be worse than they are now as far as freedom and liberties go.
