Improving performance of the Kenwood 72x True-X

I know you are supposed to disable Ultra DMA for this drive and set it for PIO MODE 4, but how do you go about doing this?

Do you do this in the operating system or in the BIOS? I run Windows ME.

You can disable DMA in Windows, but you need to go to BIOS to change Ultra DMA mode to PIO mode.

LXi - Since I am not that knowledgable about the technical significance of DMA and UltraDMA, should I disable both if it is recommended to disable UltraDMA?
