Currently holding a 64MB GF2 MX200. 2 options: -

1. Upgrade to 64MB GF2 MX 400
2. Upgrade to 32MB GF2 GTS.

Q's.
1. Will the GF2 MX200 to MX400 beneficial ? or the MX200 to GTS ?
2. Will the GTS be cripple by the 32MB RAM compare to the 64MB of RAM on GF2 MX400.

With your Duron machine, you'd probably see a pretty good boost from going to the GTS. I'm not sure about the MX400, but I doubt it would be that noticable, and certainly not worth the upgrade. Also, if you have the extra $40, you might want to go for a GF3ti200. The speed increase will be dramatic, plus you'll have support for some really great visual features, which should (hopefully) be implemented in games soon. You can grab one for about $160, and OC it to near ti500 levels.

Well, if your happy with nVidia cards a Visiontek Geforce2 GTS-V might be a nice upgrade over a MX200. They are just over $70 shipped from newegg, and have been overclocking to regular GTS speeds quite easily.

If you step up to the $100 level, newegg has both the Geforce2 Ti 450 (gainward) and the Radeon 7500. Both nice cards at $100.

Toss in the extra $60ish and you are in Geforce3 Ti 200 and Radeon 8500 OEM land.

Although the MX400 is quite a bit faster than the 200 (because of the horrible memory bandwidth of the 200), the extra cash for a GTS-V or higher would probably be worth it.

My hunch tell m to get the GTS. Decision: -

A new 64MB MX400 vs 2nd hand 32MB GF GTS. Which one ?

Will the lesser RAM on the GTS card be a major probs (performance related) ?

I can get both card @ the same price.

The GTS is probably better. I had a regular GF2MX ddr a while ago, and now I have a GTS-V and a slower CPU and as a whole my system is faster.

Try a Geforce 2 Ti 32MB on pricewatch for $89. Overclock to 275/460, it will crush the regular Geforce GTS which in turn mops up the 64MB MX-400. There is very little performance difference form a 32MB DDR card to a 64MB one.
