Improper Lane Usage - Illinois - Help! I want to avoid car insurance hike.

I know I gotta pay the ticket... but how do I minimize car insurance going up? The ticket is 75 bucks, the safety course is 170 bucks to keep if off my record. I don't really want to take the course but if it keeps me from getting a hike in monthly car insurance raise, I'll do it. I've never gotten a ticket before and I'm 25.

I went into the left lane to turn left before the left lane starts.
you mean you went onto a median/shoulder before the lane started? be more clear

also...take the course, by the time you pay the ticket, and court costs and fees and insurance itll cost way more than the $100 premium to do the class.

There's a left turn lane for opposing traffic and a left lane for my way. I went into the opposing traffic left lane to get into my left lane and a cop saw me.

I don't really get why this matters, the violation is the same for any situation, Improper Lane Usage.

Cop in Illinois here. How old are you?

N/M, saw your age.

Pay it through the mail. Get court supervision and pay the 75.00. After 90 days of no more moving violations (red lights, stop signs, speeding), ticket disappears from your record and insurance doesn't see it. You should have gotten a pamphlet with the ticket, assuming the county does it the same way as mine. Where was the ticket at?

I don't think there is an option like that.

I have to pay the fine and go to school to get the supervision...

Just pay for the course. Some counties have an online versions. Others you have to go in person. It's four hours and $100 out of your life to keep your premiums from going up. When I took a course in March, they said that some insurance companies will actually give you a discount for taking the class because it's a defensive driving course (at least in the county I was in).

lol, even if you take that stupid course, your rates will go up.
Go to court, fight the ticket down to something else. Pay up.

I don't know Illinois law, but it sounds like you have three GOOD options:

1) Pay the ticket. Take the points on your license

2) Pay the ticket. Pay for and take the course. NO points on your license.

3) Go to court, talk to the judge. You MIGHT be able to get the fine reduced, and MAYBE the cop doesn't show...ticket gets dismissed.

and one "not so good" option...

4) Tell them to get fucked...Refuse to pay the ticket, refuse to go to court
Lose your license and maybe go to jail where you can have all the buttsecks you want...and more.
