Anyone using the Impression I-cube as seen here? It doesn't seem to support 533MHz CPU's but it's about $200 CDN cheaper than a comparative Shuttle system....

hey now... I was after this one specifically. NOT the random hodge-podge that was my last thread. ;)
This one's on sale this month. ;)

You mean here ?

Still, to quote from page 17 of the site I've recommended:

"We have looked at two of the most advanced small form factor systems currently available and we have one winner and that is the Shuttle SS51G. Aside from being technically more advanced, the Shuttle system offers the advantage of being substantially more quiet than the Thunderbolt, even though the latter still beats most desktop systems less than 2 years old. Using the integrated graphics, there is no doubt which system offers the better performance, both in terms of raw frame rates and with respect to visual quality of the 2D display. (...)
So it comes down to the question of features and both systems have a lot to offer. For the video editor, there is no question, Firewire is Firewire and that one is not present on the Thunderbolt. Some die hard gamers with expensive racing simulators will certainly enjoy the game port on the Thunderbolt, likewise, the sloucher on the home wet bar sofa with the big screen tv will get a kick out of the infrared port for the wireless keyboard and mouse. Moreover, the Lucite Techno-look of the Thunderbolt has something going for it."

And I'll say it again, the difference in price is about 50% more. $300CDN vs. $500+
Yes the Shuttle is nicer, but is it worth almost DOUBLE the price?

And that's why I was calling for users of the i-cube (and its clones...) for a "quality report". :Q

The i-cube is still on sale... anyone own it or the AMS G-box and love it? Hate it?

I'm not as sold on it as I used to be... 400FSB only.... I'd be better off with an AMD processor than a Celeron 2.0 even if I *could* overclock it. It'll NEVER get close to 3.0 without the 533MHz FSB.
