Impossible installation or a matter of know how.

I have an old DELL computer (8100 series) about 3 1/2 yearsw old. O/S is Windows XP HE OEM from DELL. Have the CD and the License is mine.

The computer is about to die. Can I install the O/S on a new machine that I am going to build? I understand there are issues with OEM Operating Systems sold by DELL that may prevent installation on a second machine.

I was thinking that maybe I can use a different Windows XP installation CD (also OEM) from a friend and use my license to validate the installation. Is that possible?

Technically it'll probably work, really depends on whether it's a real Windows CD or a restore disc. But it won't be legal, the OEM license that came with that copy of XP is tied to that Dell PC.
