In America it's Month day year but Microsoft has it set to UK standard.

2009-09-19 isn't working for me...

MS made a good OS in win7, but explorer sucks in it.
I use a paid replacement called speed commander, one of the few native 64 bit file programs. It uses ram when copying files to the same partitions so the copies are really fast. And you can customize it to do everything like color code filename based on type, show thumbnails of psd files, and change the date format :)

They have a free trial for 60 days.

Grab the beta trial instead of the normal trial. Has more features .

Although the most efficient in terms of querying programmatically YDM is not the UK standard, that would be DMY.

But for a series of folders of pictures, you would want y-m-d. This way your folders will always sort in chronological order in explorer. If you had it otherways, you would have a mix of all your sept pics from various years all in one area. DOesn't make much sense when trying to sort through pictures.

The created field can be used to properly sort them. Also I don't use explorer, I use a file manager.
