Importing Icons

I know that this is kinda elementary and I've run accross it before but I can't remember how I got there. I've got three different machines running windows Xp. When I load a program ie. Gmail, for instance. It also loads the Icon for it instead of the default internet explorer icon. How do I get it to import the icon from the program that is launched (Gmail has a red bordered envelope) Any help out there.
