Importing DVD into windows movie maker

Slimline

Here is the scoop; I have a mini DVD camcorder (sony dcr-dvd610) I have a dvd video I wish to edit in windows movie maker on vista 64. So far, I cannot import:
ISO's
VOBS
Handbrake files ANY format style. (Well AVI with mpeg4 xvid codecs import BUT I cannot see video)

So I have tried using windows media encoder to take said files and convert them into WMV files but you guessed it, it cannot do it. Am I doing something wrong or is everything microsoft bundles to make movies suck?

PLEASE help me I am going mad! Is there any other free program like handbrake that can make WMV's?

I appreciate the reply however I got it to work. For anyone else in a similar dilemma, download the Vista Codec pack. Just google it, worked wonders. K-Lite did not work for me. I also got the x64 variant of the pack since i am running vista 64. i then encoded the video from the dvd using handbrake as a AVI with the mpeg4 xvid codec. Imported into movie maker and bingo 🙂
