Importing AOL Emails

Alright, so my mom's boss still uses AOL just so she can keep her AOL email address.

Anyway, she bought a new laptop and wants to move over all of her AOL emails. So I backed up the emails into a .pfc file, I have the .pfc file on this computer. But how do I import it?

I can open it via Mail Manager and you can see all the messages, but I can't import it in.

I have to be missing some simple function.

If she's using any version of AOL after 6.0 then no need. AOL keeps all the stored emails, address book and favorites on their server.

The exception is if she was running AOL9 and she was using the feature in AOL that keeps the emails on the local drive.

Sounds like the messages were stored on the server. It's a done deal, nothing else to do. You should be able to open any of the messages.

well, i'm not sure if that answers MrCodeDude's question, but i think he's asking (and i'm curious as well) whether there is a program that can extract the data from AOL's *.pfc (personal filing cabinet).

from what i remember when i had aol you have to export them to a floppy and then use a downloaded program to to convert them.as aol uses thier software, they wont help, they did not help me,google for a conversion tool.

I guess there is no need for the .pfc. I finally got through to AOL Tech Support, I had to copy some folder titled organize over and it brought over everything.

Nothing was stored on the AOL server, she was using AOL 9.0 Optimized and her "On AOL Server" thing was at 0%.
