Importing a NT 4 Domain to Windows 2000 Server

Hello,

We have a couple of NT 4 Servers here 1 PDC (NT4) a couple of BDCs (NT4) and some member servers (Windows 2k). I know I can upgrade my PDC to Windows 2k but I want to start my Windows 2000 server PDC from scratch since all these NT4 are poorly documented I would feel alot safer if I build mine. I
need to know if its possible to import the user database into a Windows 2000 PDC? Wich tools to use, any documentation "how to", web sites?

Any recommendation welcome !!!

I also hate NT4, vive Windows 2000 !!!! 🙂

Thanks

I would run an "upgrade" on one of the BDC's, then let it sync with the NT4 PDC..After it has gathered the users, cut all the NT 4 BSC/PDCS off of the network. Then you should be able to wipe and reload the older NT 4 boxes with Win2k.. Reattach them to the network and let them sync with the upgraded 2000 box. Then, cut the upgrade box off from the network and wipe and reload it. It will be the safest thing to do, since you will be sure that your users are there at all times. After you are finished, you will be able to use active directory and all the other cool things Win2k can do in a pure win2k environment.
