the title says it all. Bottom Line, I absolutely have to buy a card TONIGHT!!! I play CS and thats about it. I would like to watch dvds and movies but I dont think it matters that much. Radeon is like 80 bucks geforce is 100 or so. the 20 bucks doesnt really matter, but what would you buy if u were in my shoes. Feel free to suggest different cards but these are basically all I am thinking about,

thanks a lot,

GeForce SDR or DDR?

I always recommend Nvidia based cards if you running Win2k. ATI just can't get it-all future Windows OS are based on NT kernel (thank god! ), and they still cannot write a decent drivers for it.

If you on Win9x, however, it's up to you. Both cards have it's advantages.
ATI is known for good DVD playback, so it might be a good choice for you.

I am happy with my AIW Radeon in win2k, I don't play CS (yet) so I can't comment on that, but the games I do play, UT, Q3A, Tony Hawk2, BoarderZone, Championship Surfer, ect, they all play great! DVD playback is excellent of coarse. I'd have to say for the money that Le with the registry tweeks looks like a great value.

I reccomend the Radeon DDR LE. I bought this card about 3-4 weeks ago, and it is an absolute wonder for it's price. The LE will beat the MX, the 256 DDR and the 256 SDR in Win98 situations in hi-res 32 bit color. ( this is of course after you apply the registry hack, and "overclock" it to about 166/166 or 183/183)

I guess I am kind of late, but the LE is cheaper, faster, and has DVD decoding. Also, if you are running in Win2k, just run CS with OpenGL, the OpenGL is faster than the D3D in Win2k (at least for me and UT).
