Importance of Mobo

Hi guys, I recently ran 3dMark 2003 on my comp and it gave a score of 3642. I compared it online with others who had similiar hardware as mine and they had scores like 4000+. Why is it so ?

There was one who had the same specs as mine except that its mobo was Dell's. Does the mobo make such a big difference in performance ?

My internal specs are as follows

Albatron mobo
p4 2.4 HT
512 kingston ram ddr 333(the motherboard says its 400) single channel
ati radeon 9500 pro
sound blaster audigy

The mobo usually only makes a big difference for stability/features/overclocking. If the mobo affects performance, it's mainly because of the chipset it uses.

In your case, note that you're using single channel DDR333. If your P4 has HT, it's probably a P4C. Optimally, a P4C needs dual channel PC3200 DDR.
