Well peeps, here's what I learnt:
I was using a Raidmax 350w PS, which is the minimum reccomended. However, Raven Shield locked within the first few minutes and RtCW multiplayer was unstable. I also noticed like "dead pixels" appearing during the Troll's Lair test in 3dMark01 and some artifacing. At first I thought it must be because I didnt reboot the computer before running the test but even after reboots, I got the same thing. In any case, my score was 4675 ... with cold cathodes turned off (yes, does have a relevance!)
Then I installed a Antec 400w PS, a good company and a decent PS unit. No more dead pixels or artifacing in 3dmark01 ... and the score was 4685! Then I turned off the cold cathodes (2 bright blue ones) and the score jumped to 4691. I then disconnected a hard drive that I had hooked up to the same power line as the 9700Pro, in effect giving the 9700Pro its own, unshared power connector ... and the score was 4697!
Working on tweaking my system to get a better score ... why, I dont know until I get something better to do, i guess!
