Import "modeling"... your thoughts?

My friend Jenni wants to get into the scene. I'm being supportive because that's what she wants to do, but... I've been to car shows, and those girls are nothing but pieces of meat. They don't even have to be really attractive... as long as they're wearing next to nothing, they'll be fawned over. Thoughts? :camera:
 
Isn't that female modelling though? A lot of the superstar models aren't the best looking women in the world. They just happen to be the skinniest.

Car models aren't the best looking either. They just have no problem being near naked in front of lots of people.
 
She's cute, and she's still growing up... I guess we all are, but still.

Oh, and she wants to come to the next ATOT boardgame meetup... if it takes place at my apartment, I'm limiting attendance to 30. 😵
 
A lot of girls at my college do this stuff on the side. I don't respect them as much. They usually just want attention.
 
well, really it does seem to come down with if she is comfortable with it. i think there is something to be said for it if she still feels like doing it and if she does see it the same way you do. i think that sort of understanding can be the difference between her being used and her using the weakness of a patriarchy society to meet her own ends.
 
"If your not attractive you could always be an import model", is my usual saying. But in this case your freind is attractive, so it leaves me confused as to WHY the import scene. Even the porn scene is more respectable then that.
 
best wishes to her, she's cute, but based on those picks and what she seems like from them she will get completely chewed up and spit out.

Do they even get paid that well? One of my other friends (a very smart/respectable girl) did it for some spending cash, and I think she made $100 for an 8-hour day (posing next to a car).

thats pretty good if its something you do every once in a while, and one assumes the more you do it, the better you get paid...
also: for what appears to be very little "work" thats great pay.
 
I don't know why you put modeling in quotes. I guess you are saying it's not real modeling. I basically agree but these people take it seriously so it's modeling to them. I think the best part about import modeling is that they all use it as an excuse for bigger and better things. For example, to break into Hollywood movies etc. I think this is pretty weak and seldom works. To me it's the same idea as sleeping with the director. Such a cop out way to climb the ladder.

But I am all for it. There are plenty of cute import models that I otherwise wouldn't see if it weren't for the scene.
 
I guess she could be semi-import model material. She'll need to definately get a boob job. Just check out Francinee Dee, Christine Mendoza, Aiko Tanaka, Sharon Sotto. They're all goddesses in my book.
