No and I have no idea. I do know I do not want one.

I always thought that it could be a good idea. something with all your information on it so it could be scanned by EMTs incase you are allergic to anything etc. having a gps part built it just adds to the possibilities. incase you get lost or kidnapped, and it could also know when your heart stops beating incase of a heart attack and you are alone and could somehow contact 911

There is no doubt in my mind that governments are going to start pushing for these for all-in-one identification and possibly monetary use. It would probably be convenient, but it would bring up a lot of privacy issues.

EDIT: There are plenty of benign uses, like for emergency health info

It does sound like a good idea for emergency medical information. However, as with any rfid technology there are legitimate privacy issues. I wouldn't have one of those implanted in me, my pets, or my (future) family.

My cats came from the shelter with them, and it doesn't bother me.

No way in hell would I want one implanted in me, though.

They sound like a great idea and could be very handy if you lose your pet, but they remind me too much of what the tribulation will have. It's freaky, so I kinda would feel wrong doing it to my pet. I would not make a big deal out of it if I had a pet that already had one, but I would not go out of my way to insert one. I leave my cat inside anyway, and always will.

RFID's are passive devices. They're not powered. Thus, it wouldn't know when your heart stops beating.

Why the hell wouldn't you want one in a pet? Are you that paranoid??

I wouldn't mind if they implant them to sex offenders, murderers, non-US citizens, etc.

Good for medical info, tracking sex offenders, etc. But it sort of undermines the basic principles of America's founding if they're implanted to track innocent citizens.
