Air Tools are great when you have tons of jobs to get done in a day, but in my opinion really over rated for a home mechanic. ..

For lugnuts, I agree. I've never found a lug nut I couldn't remove with a cheater bar or by standing on the wrench.
But, as I've recently discovered, there are times when space is so tight you can get a socket or a wrench on the nut, but you just don't have any room to move/gain leverage......that would be a great time for an air gun. I'm leaning towards a IR231.

I don't think I've ever used a tight space as an excuse to use an impact gun...maybe with some extension/impact wobble action, yeah...but then, that would probably allow you to be able to use a breaker bar, anyway.

It's purely a tool of time saving and annoyance/frustration prevention.

Also, you REALLY want an IR2131. 231's are dinosaurs. Heavy as hell and your neighbors will pray for your death.
