We are about to see the second round of amnesty in th US, paving a pathway for millions of lowly educated people. I really think the current plans are terrible, primarily because the government still doesn't want to secure the border first. Both parties are doing this to gain Latino voters and nothing else.

This is the problem with pandering to Hispanics for votes. There are hispanics who call for these illegals to be given amnesty.

This guy isn't very informed. In fact he has no clue as to the content of the bill based on his misstatements.

The Senate Bill does not extend the reach of family based immigration to extended family members, it actually does away with family sponsorship of sibilings. It also caps the age of sponsoring married children, it used to be you could sponsor married children of any age, the Senate bill would cap that to those under 31 years of age. They are trying put more limits on family based immigration because they want to GREATLY expand EMPLOYMENT based visas. This bill panders to business/big business.

Expanding upon that they also want to do away with the visa lottery program and shifting all those visas to employment based visas and the new "merit" based visa that is based on a point system(which is more or less a new employment based visa).

The bill does give a 10 year path to green card(15 to citizenship) for illegals entering before the end of 2011. A key provision of this is, all people waiting to immigrate through the legal system as of the date of enactment of the legislation must have been dealt with before illegals can get green cards. So the time frame is probably going to be much longer than 10 years/15 years.

From the Senate version of the bill(in plain english)

Before anyone in the U.S. illegally can get a new provisional legal status, the border security and border fencing plans must be in place. Before they can get permanent resident green cards, the plans must be substantially completed, and a new entry-exit system must also be implemented at U.S. seaports and airports to track people coming and going. A mandatory system for employers to check workers' legal status must also be in place.

The fence is a fucking lie.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jun/18/senate-rejects-border-fence/

Senate rejects border fence.

And last week, Rubio the newest Rino in the senate, said legalization before border security.

So the American people are about to be fucked over and over again.

Immigration not fixed. Illegals granted amnesty. And a border that as secure as it ever was.

What problem does this fix for Americans? none. Its nothing but a handout to a bunch of law breaker. Once again government putting a big as middle finger to hard working honest americans, and immigrants, and giving a handout to the douches of the world

Did we learn anything from the huge amnesty program in 1986? Do the same things over again and expect different result? Not very smart there.

Yeah, get rid of those descendants of the pilgrims and European colonists who had no right to immigrate to the Americas! They're not willing to integrate into Native American culture, they're lazy, and they take jobs Native Americans could have had!

What teeth are there in this monstrous bill to force illegals to play by the rules? Why would an illegal want to start paying taxes for umpteen years before they are allowed to become a citizen? What rights will they have as a citizen that they don't have now? Now, they can work under the radar, tax free, with an education provided for their kids and all the health care they can consume, SNAP benefits, the list goes on and on. What will pull them out of the shadows to take these steps to become a citizen versus maintaining the status quo in the land of milk and honey?

If I've got something wrong, tell me. I'm truly wondering what the benefits will be to someone here illegally.

I've always liked this analogy...

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "No! I like it here.

It's better than my house. I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house

You are Required to feed me
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part).
If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house
And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me.

we can't fix the immigration problem without fixing the drug war first.

fact.

we tighten the border, we'll get kamikaze cartels and breed an even bigger black market for coyotes....

they aren't dumb... if they have to fly to canada first, and cross that way., they will..

they'll tunnel, they'll make fake papers.. jesus...

wake up.

the only fix is... end drug war. open border. tax.

i was just watching fox just now and bill o'reilly's all upset because these "lifeline" phones are being sold to drug dealers for 40 bucks by the people that go and get them..

ok bill, now look even deeper...

whos paying for these phones... american tax payers... who is your precious amercan government giving your tax money to, to make this possible... ever heard of Carlos Slim???? apparently bill has.. yep.. he's getting the money from the government, he's getting, the business, he's getting the advertising, he's the richest man in the world, SO HE HAS A HAND IN THE CARTEL, AND MEXICAN MOB/GOVERNMENT...SO EVEN THE END MONEY ON THE STREET FOR THE DRUGS GOES TO HIM.

and bill sits there wanting to bitch about people using drugs on welfare ROFL ROFL

Bill should be happy capatilism is working.!!! its just that turns out there are people in other lands smarter than him... and are using his beloved system, against him, against our country.. the real smart people, realize what's happening... dont dislike capatalism, just dislike when people like bill dont understand the whole scope of the game... this IS capatilism.. it doesnt always profit americans. in fact, we're so pre occupied with our media, that capatilists are using it against us. from abroad.

they do it because they need the votes. It has nothing to do with your fruits and vegetables.

A more open immigration system would probably be possible if there were less welfare in America.

Drones could easily be used to catch border invaders. But the government refuses to allow Border Patrol to actually do their job.

All this "war on terror," yet the same government doesn't care to secure the border. Hypocrisy, and a mockery.

Legal residence status is one thing. If anyone thinks it's a good idea to give illegals the right to vote after their first act in the U.S. is to break the law, they're crazy.

You would be getting rid of the very people who built this country by doing that...and the Mexicans would have no incentive to want to move here then.
