Immigration Bill Would Make Taxpayers Pay Legal Bills of Illegal Aliens Seeking Amnesty

Well, another reason why I oppose this new immigration bill...and yea, call me xenophobe, but if they have the indecency to pass this "destruction of america as we used to know it" bill, then they should have the "decency" to at least pay the illegal peons their own legal services. But of course not; we already pay their health insurance, their welfare and well, legal services shouldn't be a big deal...oh yea....let's fight terrorism by first getting rid of the politicians that came up with this lovely bill...

not be construed to prevent a recipient of funds under the Legal Services
Corporation Act (42 U.S.C. 2996 et seq.) from providing legal assistance
directly related to an application for a Z-A visa under subsection (b) or
an adjustment of status under subsection (j).

This negates a provision approved by Congress in 1996, with NLPC's input, that prevents LSC-funded lawyers from representing illegal aliens. The restriction was necessary because legal services lawyers have a long history of promoting illegal immigration and showing contempt for the ban on representing illegals.</a>

I doubt it, there is a fine of $5000 (should be more) for a Illegal adjusting the status if he want the green card After he passed security checks and background checks. I know there are a lot of lawyers making money with these illegals like when there are going to the interview the ask a thousand dollars for translation...

they also get FHA loans currently, the estimate is that over 20,000 just in the Denver area alone....

why worry about terrorism when we have a Congress like we have.

There also is a 1,500 dollar processing fee in order to obtain a Z Visa.

By the way, its not even clear in what situations the LSC lawyers would potentially be representing illegal aliens. While it would admittedly be a rare situation, a basic first issue would be verifying they are here illegally and this isn't some sort of mix up with all the government red tape. Its also quite clear that if an illegal alien is accused of a crime and arrested in the US, they should have a right to a fair trial like everyone else and have legal representation. This is actually in the public interest because you don't want an illegal alien falsely convicted while the real criminal roams free and able to commit additional crimes in the future.
